Smart Card Technologies

With the technology changing so frequently now-a-days, it has become very difficult to get hold on to it. Just when you get comfortable using a new gizmo or any aspect of technology, you come to know that a new and advanced version of the same thing has entered the arena. But then again this doesn’t stop us from indulging in any of it. The advancement in technology has also decreased the need of touching or holding anything, all you need to is say something (voice command), make some gestures (motion sensors) or just flash your card (smart cards) and the intended work is done.

Take the case of smart cards. Earlier we used to have office IDs with us which we needed to
flash in front of the card reader to get access inside a building or a particular area of the office where only authorized personnel could go. But now there has been so advancement in this area itself. Such advanced smart card readers, such as Omnikey Readers, have been developed by companies which read the smart card present with you, like in the pocket of your coat or in your wallet, and without the need to flash it or show it to the public it allows you access the premises if you are authorized to do so. Not only for the office, such technologies are being used in automobiles as well. There are so many automobiles present which provide keyless entries options where the car key has a smart card inside it and there is a sensor on the door which reads the smart card if you are in range and allows you to enter the car. There is no limitation when it comes to technology, it’s just your imagination.
